This weekend in Chicago, TAKE ON HATE will be participating in a roundtable discussion on Poverty in America at the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) Convention, the country's largest Muslim conference.
Asha Noor, TAKE ON HATE Advocacy and Civic Engagement Specialist, and Khaled Beydoun, TAKE ON HATE Senior Strategist, will help lead the discussion—on Saturday, Sept. 3 at 8:30 a.m.—and share their insights on how surveillance and incarceration have impacted Muslim American communities in poverty. Poverty is a pervasive and overlooked crisis within the Muslim American population. Poverty among Muslim Americans poses increased danger amid the "War on Terror," in which state scrutiny and suspicion are disparately focused on indigent and working class Muslim American communities.
If you’re attending the ISNA Convention (click here for registration), we look forward to meeting you!
